How to Make Mayak Eggs (Korean Marinated Eggs) 麻薬たまご 韓国風味玉 마약계란 계란장조림 | OCHIKERON

Mayak eggs or Mayak Gyeran (마약계란) are addictive Korean soy marinated eggs 😋

Mayak Eggs (마약계란)

Mayak eggs, a Korean-style marinated egg dish that went viral in Korea four years ago. This recipe is a Japanese version we make at home in Japan.

Mayak eggs

Difficulty: Very Easy

Time: 10min + soaking time

Number of servings: 6 eggs

Ingredients:

6 cold eggs right out of the fridge

Seasonings

* 100ml soy sauce

* 100ml water

* 3 tbsp. sugar

* 1 tbsp. toasted white sesame seeds

* 40g (1.4oz.) chopped long onion

* 1 tsp. garlic chips

* 1 tsp. dried chilli slices

* 1 tbsp. sesame oil

Directions:

1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.

2. Tap each egg with a spoon to make cracks in the bottom of the shell. OR you can poke a small hole using an "Egg Hole Puncher". (Water goes in between the egg and the shell which helps the shell to come off).

3. Place the eggs in boiling water and cook for 7 minutes. Place them in water to cool, then peel.

4. Place the seasonings in a container or a big bowl and mix well. Place the eggs. Put in the fridge for about 6 hours.

If you soak the eggs too long, they become salty and the egg yolks pectize (like jelly). Please eat when you think are ready. I think it becomes too salty after 12 hours.

You can get an "Egg Hole Puncher" at Daiso 100yen shop to poke a hole in the egg. https://amzn.to/3Dj9XlM
